I announced on Facebook last week that I was beginning a sugar detox. I have decided to take that a stop further and and begin a Whole30 program. For those who have not heard of this, it is a 30 day nutritional reset created by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig.

The basic guidelines involve avoiding common allergens and inflammatory ingredients (sugar). I will avoid processed foods, soy, dairy, grains, legumes and sugar.

Why am I doing this? The primary reason is that I have had a sugar addiction relapse and find myself craving sugar daily. I know from experience, that eating it affects my mood, sleep patterns and waistline. A 30 day program such as this is a great way to reset my body and get rid of the cravings while increasing my energy and improving my mood. I would love to loose a few pounds over the next month, but whether I do or not I know I will be healthier.
