With New Year’s fast approaching, many of us are ready to make a renewed commitment to feeling our best. Fortunately, this doesn’t mean we have to skip all treats. Several weeks ago I created a healthy dessert that I could feel good about giving to the kids. I could even enjoy a small serving while on my candida cleanse.  It contains no sweetener other than what is naturally occurring in the fruit.  I hope you enjoy it.

Pear and Pumpkin Crumble

3 pears, diced

½ cup pumpkin


½ cup butter, softened

½ T pumpkin pie spice

¼ cup almond flour

Pinch of sea salt


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease 8 x 8 pan with coconut oil
  3. Place pears in greased pan
  4. Spread with pumpkin
  5. Mash together butter and pumpkin pie spice
  6. Stir in almond flour and salt
  7. Spoon topping over fruit
  8. Bake for 30 minutes
  9. Broil for 3-5 minutes more to brown
  10. Serve warm
